Jamie Mumford’s flattened biomorphic forms are brought to life by their embrace of the sparkling, polychromatic aesthetics of 70s disco and glam rock. An abstracted surrealist landscape splashes across the foyer wall of Mailbox Art Space, activating its surface and introducing textures unknown to the space. Flamboyant flashes of block colour and metallic holography are the backdrop for the pastel patent wetness of sculptural forms suggestive of fungi, cellular structures, and early primordial life. This reimagining of past life creates an alien liquid future of shine and excess that consumes the viewer, as rippling streamers of glittering silver welcome us into the unknown.     -Andrée Ruggeri, exhibition curator.
